April 29, 2010 will mark the 30 year anniversary of the death of legendary filmmaker Sir Alfred Hitchcock.
During a career spanning six decades, Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock made over 50 films which received an incredible total of 50 Academy Award Nominations. Given the number of critically acclaimed films made by Hitchcock, there has always been much debate as to which of his movies was the greatest.
Vertigo – The Critics Choice
In 2008 The American Film Institute voted Vertigo as the number one mystery film of all time. Rear Window, North by Northwest and Dial M for Murder give Hitchcock four of the top ten films in this category. Vertigo also came in at number 40 in Empires list of ‘Best Movies of all Time’ making it the highest placed Hitchcock film.
